June 6th Leaving Omaha

Everyone arrived safe and sound at the airport. Once all checked in we gathered for a before picture. Lots of smiles and energy. The question is will our post trip photo show the same? I suspect the picture will look different. Yes we will be a little more tired and worn out but we will have changed. I have always been fascinated at how these trips impact our outlook on life.

Enough philosophizing. Once on the plane, energy swelled. What will no doubt be come to be known as the fearsome foursome began singing and during taxi, Dakota was seen to be driving from the back seat. Oh what fun lays ahead. We actually took off a few minutes early which gave us a little extra time in Chicago. Those who wanted to even had time to grab a bite to eat. Take off out of Chicago was right on time and now we are headed to Miami. It wasn't long after takeoff before the preverbal question was asked, are we there yet? My answer was not yet, but soon. Asked several more times, as this question so often is, Ali came up with the classic response, "yes we are, now get out".. Soon the effects of an early wakeup seem to take hold and as I look around, several of our team members are sound asleep.

Finally airborne on the last leg of the journeys. Took off about forty minutes late. Sharon had a great conversation with a person familiar with Jarabacoa and learned of a ice cream parlor we should investigate. Got in about 30minutes later than expected and after getting thought customs who should we find waiting for us, Ellen Snow. What a wonderful surprise. After a short visit in the airport terminal, we loaded up a trailer and headed to the hotel. By the time we got settled in it was midnight.
